Noboritoura was an inlet located near present-day Chuo Ward in Chiba City, and flourished as a key transportation hub . It was also a famous clam-digging spot, attracting many holidaymakers from Edo . There are various theories, but the large and small torii gates are said to belong to Noborito (Towatari) Shrine in Chiba City . A small depiction of Mt. Fuji is depicted inside the large torii gate . People busy digging for clams and fishing are depicted from a bird's-eye view.
