From the "COSMICPUNK Exhibition" by BOOMRANNG

This work depicts a street play based on the story of "COSMICPUNK". The core of the story is an epic adventure in which a traveler discovers a powerful star called "Dark Sun", a hidden place in the universe. The woman located in the central frame plays the symbolic presence of the Dark Sun, while the man depicted at the bottom embodies the traveler who boards a broken-down spaceship and discovers the Dark Sun. The other actors symbolically represent beings who inhabit the mysterious realm of the universe. This work shows how myths survive through generations and become the foundation of legends, traditions, and art. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of fearlessly exploring unknown territories. It suggests that fearless exploration and the resulting power of discovery are the source that enriches our culture and knowledge.

Curatorial Notes

Stories connect us. India, the world's largest country with a population of 1.4 billion, is a country where diverse cultures, languages, and religions coexist. India has different myths and stories for each region and religion, which are deeply rooted in people's daily lives and spiritual lives. For example, festivals such as Diwali and Holi originate from ancient myths and are celebrated by the entire community. Such events promote the formation of identity, deepen mutual understanding between different communities, and bring harmony to society.

In big cities that have experienced rapid economic growth, such as Delhi and Mumbai, modern lifestyles are widespread and large shopping malls and entertainment facilities are abundant. However, with modernization due to globalization and technological development, young people have fewer opportunities to come into contact with their unique traditional culture and ancient myths and stories. This situation is also seen in Japan in recent years. Passing on one's own culture to the next generation while maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation is a global challenge, not just for India and Japan. Against the backdrop of these challenges, BOOMRANNG has created a modern myth called "COSMICPUNK". They depict the essence and emotions of humans that have not changed from ancient times to the present, and show values ​​that resonate with us today. We hope that through this exhibition, the hope for the future that they have put into their works will reach many people.
