作品説明
BOOMRANNG "COSMICPUNK Exhibition"
This work depicts the "Rashmiyan Cluster", which is part of the secret of the universe, and the powerful "Dark Sun" in the story of "COSMICPUNK". In the central frame, beings showing various reactions to the Dark Sun are depicted, expressing the conflict of whether to believe in this unknown discovery and how to deal with it.
The artwork depicts three main groups, the believers (Fate), the illusionists (Fantasy) and the doubters (Caution), and how their conflicts threaten to threaten the unity of the universe. The bottom of the artwork depicts the ancient creation story of "Primus the Cat and the Sparrow," which ultimately resolves the conflict and maintains the unity of the universe.
The main artwork explores the diverse individual responses to the same story (the unknown), reflecting a spectrum of interpretations. Some see them as a source of purpose, others as warnings, and still others reject them as mere fables. It represents the different reactions we have when confronted with the same phenomenon, depending on how we perceive the world.
These responses are deeply rooted in human dreams and perceptions: even though we may hold different views, we are connected by our shared humanity, and this connection highlights the deep unity that exists in our diverse interpretations and beliefs.
Curatorial Notes
Stories connect us. India, the world's largest country with a population of 1.4 billion, is a country where diverse cultures, languages, and religions coexist. India has different myths and stories for each region and religion, which are deeply rooted in people's daily lives and spiritual lives. For example, festivals such as Diwali and Holi originate from ancient myths and are celebrated by the entire community. Such events promote the formation of identity, deepen mutual understanding between different communities, and bring harmony to society.
In big cities that have experienced rapid economic growth, such as Delhi and Mumbai, modern lifestyles are widespread and there are many large shopping malls and entertainment facilities. However, with modernization brought about by globalization and technological development, opportunities for young people to come into contact with unique traditional culture and ancient myths and stories are decreasing. This situation has been seen in Japan in recent years as well.
Passing on one's culture to the next generation while maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation is a global challenge, not just for India and Japan. Against this backdrop, BOOMRANNG has created a modern myth called "COSMICPUNK." They portray the essence and emotions of human beings that have remained unchanged from ancient times to the present, and show values that resonate with us today. We hope that through this exhibition, the hope for the future that they have put into their works will reach many people.
