The view of dusk approaching the Tono Ferry, also known as the "Fuji Ferry." The townscape in the distance is photographed using a technique called "non-contour printing," which eliminates outlines. The figure on the boat in the center raises his pole high like a conductor, splitting the screen vertically, creating a sense of tension. Next to him, in the center of the screen, a large umbrella with mica paint * is twinkling, and countless S-shapes spread across the surface of the river as if they were echoing . The work is like a symphony of geometric patterns that not only encompasses space but also time. This painting has a magical composition. How many times must Hokusai have used his compass to create this work?  In the center, the large arches of a bridge and a boat confront each other as if responding to each other, and a number of small circles are lined up horizontally along them. Triangles are placed in front of the triangle of Mt. Fuji at the farthest end, giving the picture a sense of depth.

* Kirazuri: A technique in which mica powder is rubbed onto the background. There are two methods: rub a color onto the base, rub paste on top of it, and sprinkle mica on top, or mix the mica powder with animal glue or paste and rub it directly onto the background with a brush.
